The circumstances of your life are also a direct reflection of your internal state. One of the most easily identifiable reflections is the state of order, cleanliness, and tidiness of your personal environment. This is to what the old adage that "cleanliness is next to godliness" refers.
A clean, clear, and ordered environment is often a reflection of a clean, clear, and ordered mind. When the mind is less disturbed and more focused, the opportunity is open for the focus of your attention to be on your true nature. You will find that as you begin to focus your attention on your true nature, you will naturally become more aware of the state of your living spaces, and give more care and attention to the things around you.
You can also take active steps towards cleaning up your living spaces which will, in turn, assist you to live more fully from your true nature.
Firstly, take a deep breath, and bring your full focus of attention to your true nature...
Rest here for a moment...
Now take a look around you.
What do you notice about your space? Is there rubbish lying around? Are there things that are not where they are supposed to be? Are books and papers tidy or scattered haphazardly? Are there empty cups and dishes that need to be seen to?
There is no need to let your attention wander to the mind's judgments of what you see. Simply stay attuned to your true nature and see what the natural move is from here. So, if you would like, begin to clear up anything that requires it now.
Remember to keep your attention focused in this moment, and you can begin to make immediate changes to your living spaces. If it all seems a bit much, start with small spaces. Choose a corner and start with that. It is always amazing how the 'feel' of things changes with just a little bit of time and attention placed on clearing, cleaning, and tidying. It is literally like a breath of fresh air and you will notice the body expand and relax into the new feeling of the space.
